Day 4: Relaxed Body = Relaxed Mind
Get Healthy U TV EditorsDescription
When we consciously relax the muscles in our body, our mind takes a nod that it’s also okay to relax.
Today we will work through our entire body, letting stress melt off our physical beings so our mind can lighten up as well.
Hi, my name is Chloe Freytag and welcome to day four of our 14 day meditation challenge here at Get Healthy U TV. So as we've progressed through this challenge, we've now built a strong solid foundation for us, for our posture, for sitting. We've got opportunities of where to place our hands on different days when we're feeling differently. And we've also connected with our breath. These are structural tools necessary for meditation.
Let's start to take it a little bit deeper today as we head into a body scan. So go ahead and find your way into whatever comfortable seat you'd like to utilize today. Any position with the hands, sit up nice and tall, and then choose to either close your eyes down or just softly gaze towards the floor. We'll open our practice as we always do with our three deep breaths together in through the nose and out through the mouth. Take a full deep inhale in.
Exhale, let it go. Two more like that. Big breath in. Exhale the air out. Last time, big deep inhale all the way to the belly.
Exhale. Let the air go. Stay in your comfortable seats and bring your attention into your breath. Taking it deeper and fuller, big, long expansive breaths. And as you breathe long and deep, start to bring your attention to the top of your head.
And you can visualize an energy almost like honey starting to drip through your body and releasing and relaxing any tension you're holding in any places of your physical posture. So beginning with that energy, right at the top of your head, starting to feel it melt down, relaxing your forehead, your eyebrows, allowing your eyelids to become more soft, heavy. Continuing to let that energy melt down through your jaw releasing any tension that you're holding there. Relaxing down through the neck, letting any weight you're holding on the shoulders just melt away. Feeling your arms and shoulders, very relaxed and heavy, comfortable as they are.
Continuing to breathe long and deep. As this energy melts over you relaxing your body. Bring your attention into your chest, your lungs, your ribs, feeling how they move and relax with that long deep breath. Expanding on the inhale all the way down into the belly. And letting the abdomen naturally relax on the exhalation.
Continuing to drop your awareness down deeper now into your hips, your seat. Allowing them to relax and feel more comfortable in the position you're sitting in. Keeping that long, deep breath flowing in and out. As this energy continues to melt its way through your body, exploring now down into the legs, all the way through the knees and ankles and feet, letting your whole body deeply relax in this position you're sitting in. Feeling that ease and comfort in your physical body.
We'll close our meditation with a deep breath together pausing at the top, and then exhaling out through the mouth. Take a full deep inhale in, pause at the top, keeping your body relaxed and comfortable, and then fully exhale out through the mouth. Gently begin to blink your eyes back open to gaze forward. Thank you for meditating with us today on our day four of our challenge. I'm so proud of you all for taking this commitment to yourself at home.
We'll see you tomorrow on day five.
